Information We Collect

We collect information needed to operate the site and respond to requests:

  • Contact enquiries: name, email address, company, enquiry type, message, any attachment you choose to send, and the optional timeline, budget and "what prompted you to get in touch" answers.
  • Enquiry attribution: when you send an enquiry, we include the page you first landed on during that visit, the referring site and any campaign (UTM) tags in the link you followed. This is held in your browser's session storage and is only sent to us if you submit the form; it is cleared when the browser session ends.
  • Server and security data: IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps and security events. Routine server logs are normally retained for up to 30 days, unless a security investigation requires longer.
  • Analytics: page views, referrers, broad device information, downloads and outbound-link events through our Plausible analytics endpoint. We use this to understand aggregate site use rather than to build advertising profiles.
  • Preferences and anti-abuse: local storage for the selected colour theme and data processed by Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish people from automated abuse.

How We Use Information

  • To respond to enquiries and take requested pre-contract steps
  • To operate, secure, diagnose and improve the website
  • To understand aggregate usage and content performance
  • To establish, exercise or defend legal rights and meet legal obligations

Depending on the context, our UK GDPR legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and improving a secure business website, or compliance with law. Where consent is required for a particular technology, we will request it.

Third Parties

We do not sell personal information. We use service providers for hosting, email delivery, analytics and abuse prevention. Cloudflare processes Turnstile data under its own privacy terms. Our analytics script is served from plausible-app.skelfresearch.uk. Links to GitHub and other external services take you to sites with their own privacy policies.

Service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use contractual or other lawful transfer safeguards and assess the relevant service terms.

Retention and Security

We retain enquiry records only while they are needed to respond, manage a resulting relationship, meet legal or accounting obligations, or resolve disputes. Attachments should not contain secrets, payment data, health information or other sensitive material. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, but no internet transmission is completely secure.

Your Rights

Subject to UK data-protection law, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, and may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Some rights depend on the processing purpose and legal basis.
